Well, my little chickadees, the Author Blog Challenge is mere days away now. Are you READY?

Watch this space and/or your e-mail for daily updates about:

  • Writing prompts for the challenge
  • Daily participant posts
  • Winners for each day’s giveaway

The first prompt of the Challenge will go out TOMORROW, to give you a little time to ponder it before the first day. Remember, you needn’t use our prompts; they are just there to give you ideas for your posts during this challenge.

If you’re one of those super-organized planner types (and you know who you are!), you may already have all your posts planned. Good for you! If you’re like others of us who plan when we need to but more often fly by the seats of our summer walking shorts, then you may want to use our prompts to jiggle loose some ideas for your posts. Either way works. The idea is that you’re writing about your book and/or the process that went into making/marketing it.

The goal is two-fold: (1) connect with other authors to learn from and support them, and (2) connect more deeply with your readers. Haven’t you ever wondered about your favorite author’s research our outline process? Where their favorite writing spot is? Well, I’m betting your readers would love to know the same about you.

I would encourage you to push the envelope a little bit, in terms of the kinds and frequency of your posts, but we’re not asking you to write anything that makes you wildly uncomfortable. You know your readers and what works for them. Remember, the participants who post all 28 days will win ALL the days’ giveaways and a gift card to your favorite bookstore.

If you’re just starting your blog, this is the perfect time to decide which direction you’d like to take it and what shape you’d like it to take.

We’ll have weekly conference calls on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. PDT, so jump on those if you have questions, feel stuck, or just want to bond with other authors!

Please remember to post your links on our Facebook group page — but also post them on YOUR author page and Tweet them as well. And if you see other ABC posts you love, please be sure to SHARE the love by Tweeting those, as well! It’s through the shared connection that everyone wins!

Here we go!
